About the role:
 
Reporting to the Lead, Recruitment, the Recruiter, Trades is responsible for partnering closely with the Coal Central Recruiting, Human Resources and Maintenance teams to deliver hiring initiatives for skilled trades roles. This role leads proactive talent identification efforts, including direct headhunting of qualified trades professionals in competitive and remote labor markets, to build strong and sustainable talent pipelines.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for an experienced trades recruiter with strong problem‑solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, who is confident representing the organization through outreach, industry engagement, and public‑facing recruitment activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism. They are comfortable working independently to execute headhunting and sourcing strategies, while also collaborating effectively with recruitment partners and hiring leaders. The successful candidate can prioritize competing demands, adapt quickly, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment requiring persistence, influence, and market awareness.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies  
  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle with a high degree of precision, ensuring the placement of high‑quality candidates through both active and passive talent channels
  • Proactively identify, headhunt, and engage passive candidates through targeted search strategies, networking, and market intelligence
  • Build and maintain highly credible, influential relationships with Hiring Managers, Human Resources, and Maintenance Partners to deeply understand workforce needs and talent gaps
  • Develop and execute advanced sourcing strategies, including headhunting, Boolean search, search engine marketing, print and digital advertising, social media, career fairs, and industry events
  • Travel to various locations and for extended periods as required to support recruitment and headhunting efforts
  • Ensure all recruitment and headhunting activities are conducted in compliance with Canadian employment laws and regulations

Requirements:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, or other related field 
  • Minimum three years demonstrated ability in a recruitment role in an industrial environment 
  • Strong digital literacy and proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite® 
  • Demonstrated experience in proactive sourcing and headhunting, including identifying, engaging, and attracting passive candidates in competitive labor markets
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent 
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
