About the role:
 
Reporting to the Supervisor, Financial Planning, the Senior Analyst, Financial is responsible for compiling and analyzing monthly forecast and annual budget data. Working with key stakeholders across the Mine Sites and Offsite groups, this role will support the financial decision-making processes, including historical and forward looking performance analysis and reporting, and improve systems in collaboration with partners across our support departments.
 
To be successful, we are looking for someone with advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, who is also detail oriented and meticulous in their work. The successful candidate would use strong interpersonal and communication skills to present financial data in a meaningful way that maximizes the impact and value for the audience. The ability to thrive under pressure and work independently to meet challenging priorities while building relationships within the business is vital for success in this role.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly forecast and annual budget financial statements, as well as preparation of consolidation allocations and calculations
  • Analyze financial and operational information gathered from multiple sites and support departments to identify trends, risks, opportunities
  • Prepare highly polished reporting materials with a focus on the “So What” to support senior leadership decision-making
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support scenario analysis and assist in the validation of forward-looking plans
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis to identify and address emerging issues
  • Prepare materials for shareholder and head office meetings
  • Analyze the external operating environment to develop assumptions to support forecast and budget processes

Requirements:

  • CPA designation or working towards a CPA and related experience
  • Minimum five years experience in operational accounting or finance, preferably within industrial environment
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Advanced digital literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office Suite®: Excel, PowerPoint etc.
