Mining Engineer
Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class Zinc-Lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process Zinc, Lead and Silver from our open cut mining operations. They are then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer you could be accountable for a diverse range of tasks such as, daily and monthly mine plans, projects and costs, dump construction methodologies and long-term strategies, drill and blast, and continuous improvement of mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement daily and monthly mine plans to support pit operations and over burden emplacement.
- Design drill and blast patterns, haul roads, and pit/stockpile layouts
- Monitor and maintain mining schedules, records, and reporting systems
- Conduct cost analysis to support budgeting and forecasting
- Liaise with a range of key stakeholders to ensure optimisation of resources to meet short and long term plans.
- Prepare technical reports and production schedules.
- Ensure compliance with site procedures, safety standards, and statutory requirements.
Successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor of Engineering majoring in Mining or similar relevant tertiary qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mining engineering in open pit environment.
- Experience with blast design and modelling software (ShotPlus or BlastIQ) and mine design software (Vulcan or Deswick).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping
- A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to contribute to the MRM team and the broader Glencore group
