Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for a SO1 Paste Plant Operator vacancy that exists in the Fill & Services Department. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 7/7 day night roster. We encourage suitably qualified and experienced local candidates to apply. For those candidates located outside of Mount Isa, relocation support is available for this position to enable you and your family to live and work in Mount Isa.

About the role

Reporting to the Fill & Services Supervisor, you will support the coordination of the Paste Plant crew to meet the mine schedule while operating plant and mobile equipment in a continuous shift environment. This role operates offers long term career stability within one of Australia’s largest mining complexes.

Key responsibilities:

Support the Fill & Services Supervisor with coordination of the Paste Plant crew to meet the mine schedule
Operate paste plants and mobile equipment, including Caterpillar 980 loaders
Conduct paste strength testing and communicate results to relevant stakeholders
Monitor plant performance and respond to operational issues as required
Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and operational discipline
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Fill & Services area

About you – skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience in paste plant operations within an underground mining environment, with the ability to operate plant and mobile equipment safely and efficiently. You will be comfortable leading small crews, supporting daily operational planning, and communicating effectively with supervisors and peers. A strong safety focus, sound problem solving capability, and the ability to adapt to changing operational priorities are essential.

You will bring:

Current Australian Driver’s Licence
S1, S2 and S3 qualifications
Extensive experience operating paste plants and Caterpillar 980 loaders
Demonstrated ability to lead and support a small work group
Strong commitment to safe, efficient and high quality work practices
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proven troubleshooting and problem solving capability
Basic Microsoft Office skills (desirable)
Flexible and adaptable approach with strong attention to detail
