The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mines Assistant to join our Fill & Services Department. Reporting to the Fill & Services Supervisor, you will support the rostered Supervisor in the safe and efficient execution of daily operations to achieve business KPIs.

This role is designed as a development opportunity for employees aspiring to move into supervisory positions, providing valuable experience in leadership, team coordination and mine plan execution.

This is a residential position operating on a 7/7 continuous day and night roster.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Supervisor in fostering a positive team culture aligned with Glencore's values through mentoring, coaching and developing team capability
  • Providing visible safety leadership and ensuring compliance with company policies, standards and procedures
  • Supporting the execution of the daily shift plan, identifying and communicating any issues or delays that may impact productivity
  • Promoting and maintaining safe work practices across all activities
  • Participating in training and development initiatives to build knowledge and capability
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities
  • Conducting workplace inspections and observations, and recording findings in BSafe
  • Providing accurate and timely operational information to Supervisors and line management
  • Ensuring effective and comprehensive shift handovers
  • Contributing to the health, safety and wellbeing of the team through proactive leadership

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of three years' experience in underground mining, preferably within services and construction 
  • Sound knowledge of underground mining operations
  • A current Australian manual driver's licence
  • S1, S2, S3 Certificate 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements for underground mining 
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach with a high level of attention to detail
  • A proven history of reliability, punctuality and a strong commitment to safety
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
