Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a Mechanical Mobile Equipment Fitter vacancy that exists in the Isa Surface Operation Tailings Team. This position will be residentially based, working 7 days on 7 days off, day Shift only Roster.

The Role 
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from Mechanical Maintainers who are experience in maintaining diesel pumps, mobile crushers and screening plants in a processing environment. 
This role will see you become an integral part of the operational teams responsible for servicing and Maintaining the Mount Isa Tailings Pond Dewatering pumps, crushing and screening plants on 7 days on 7 days off, roster based in Mount Isa. 

Reporting to the Operations Supervisors, you will be responsible for ensuring our operational requirements are met to site standards of efficiency, quality, and safety. 

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Provision of a safe and reliable Pumping Systems through the execution of mechanical fault finding, breakdown repairs, planned and opportune maintenance.
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance for the tailings pumping assets, crushing plants and other mobile equipment.
  • Supporting the tailings surface operations team with equipment diagnosing and repairs to the fleet as required,
  • Conduct routine inspections of assets and determine repair action when required.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, assigned correctly, and completed to the relevant standard / specification.
  • Participating in continuous improvement projects – increasing safety whilst reducing risk and cost

Applicants should have the following qualifications

  • Trade qualification – Fitter (Mechanical) essential
  • Current manual driver’s license (MR/HR would be advantage) 
  • Experience within mining/heavy industry environment
  • Sound computer skill’s
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety
  • A self-motivated attitude and enjoy working in small yet highly productive team.
  • The capacity to manage different tasks as they arise daily.
  • Current Forklift ticket
  • Current Dogger ticket
  • Current LBG crane ticket
  • Current EWP ticket
  • Training and upskilling including – Rigging/Dogging, Elevated Work Platforms, Overhead Cranes and Forklift
