Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising an Engineer – Mechanical vacancy within the Engineering Department. This role will see you become an integral part of the Concentrator Projects team, contributing to the delivery of capital and sustaining projects across the operation.
This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 5/2, 4/3 roster.

About the Role
As an Engineer – Mechanical within the Concentrator Projects team, you will support the delivery of capital and improvement projects across multiple processing plants. The role involves working closely with operations, maintenance teams, and external stakeholders to deliver practical and safe engineering outcomes.
You will be exposed to a diverse range of project scopes, requiring both technical engineering capability and strong project coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver capital projects including scoping, design, project management and installation
- Manage project budgets and schedules
- Perform engineering calculations, design reviews and risk assessments
- Manage external suppliers and ensure compliance with site and statutory standards
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to provide practical engineering solutions
- Complete and report on planned and ad hoc safety inspections and audits
Required Background
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical engineering capability combined with the ability to work effectively in both team-based and autonomous environments. You will bring a proactive approach to problem-solving, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across operations, maintenance and project teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- 2–5 years’ experience in mining and/or construction environments
- Exposure to or experience in project management (highly regarded)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team
- Strong safety focus and work ethic
