About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent – Environment & Community, the Lead – Community Relations Advisor is responsible for leading the Community Relations function to manage reputational risks and strengthen Glencore’s social licence to operate. The role focuses on delivering effective stakeholder engagement, coordinating corporate social investment programs, and developing high quality communication strategies that support positive community outcomes. In this position, you will lead a small team while partnering closely with internal stakeholders, external community groups and corporate affairs to ensure consistent, transparent and proactive communication practices.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and manage the Community Relations team, providing guidance, support and performance oversight.
  • Deliver stakeholder engagement activities aligned to site engagement plans.
  • Coordinate and manage Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programs and community partnerships.
  • Develop and approve external communications including newsletters, reports and digital content.
  • Manage community feedback, media enquiries and support issue and crisis communications.
  • Identify and manage community and reputational risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.

 Experience required

You will bring strong experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement and communications within a complex environment. Your background will demonstrate the ability to manage reputational risk, deliver meaningful engagement outcomes and lead communication initiatives that align with broader business objectives. You will be confident working across diverse stakeholder groups, including community members, internal leaders and external partners, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high quality outputs.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in community relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of reputational risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including content development.
  • Experience managing digital communications, websites and social media platforms.
  • Proven leadership capability with a focus on developing and supporting team members.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to deliver quality outputs under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across multiple levels.
