Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Special Serviceperson – Dewatering to join the Operations team on D Crew at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Fill & Services Supervisor, this position is residential in Mount Isa and requires you to work a 7 on / 7 off, day and night shift roster, providing grounds for an excellent work-life balance.

The Role
As a Special Serviceperson – Dewatering, you will play a key hands on role in maintaining the operational integrity of the underground dewatering network at George Fisher Mine. You will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and improving dewatering systems, ensuring water management infrastructure is reliable, safe and responsive to operational needs. This role involves operating specialised equipment, supporting service and construction crews, and delivering improvement works that optimise underground services performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Install, maintain, repair and improve underground dewatering systems across the operational network.
- Monitor the performance of air and electric powered dewatering pumps and address operational issues promptly.
- Assist underground services and construction crews as required to meet operational priorities.
- Operate Volvo or Caterpillar integrated tool carriers (ITCs) to support dewatering tasks and associated projects.
- Conduct improvement projects related to dewatering efficiency, infrastructure reliability and system performance.
- Engage proactively with multiple departmental stakeholders to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Work safely within all site standards and procedures while contributing positively to the broader Fill & Services team.
You will have the following skillset and attributes:
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Extensive experience in underground services installation or underground operational work.
- Experience operating Volvo and/or Caterpillar Integrated Tool Carriers (ITCs).
- Experience with air and electric driven dewatering pumps (highly desirable).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, particularly in underground service environments.
- Reliable, self motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safe and efficient task completion.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing conditions, with strong time management skills to perform effectively under pressure.
