Copper Refineries are currently seeking suitably qualified applicants for the role of a Mechanical Engineer to join the Engineering Department.

Townsville Operations
Located on the coast in tropical North Queensland, Glencore’s Townsville Operations encompass Copper Refineries Pty Ltd and Glencore Port Operations.

Our Townsville Operations mark the final link in Glencore’s fully integrated north Queensland supply chain, connecting the natural resources we produce with markets around the world.

Copper Refineries Pty Ltd is one of the world’s electrolytic copper refineries, capable of producing 300,000 tonnes per year of premium-quality ISA brand LME Grade A copper cathode using Glencore’s proprietary IsaKIDD refining process. Glencore Port Operations at the Port of Townsville is the export gateway for our north Queensland products.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, this is a residential role in Townsville, working a 5/2 roster.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing Mechanical Engineering support to the site’s production and maintenance teams
  • Delivering operating and capital projects within budget and time constraints
  • Supervision and direction of engineering activities

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

  • An Australian recognised bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering
  • At least 2 - 5 years’ experience in a related industry
  • Project and Asset Management experience
  • Manual C Class Driver’s License
  • Demonstrated leadership including onsite supervision
  • Effective organisational and planning skills
  • SAP, experience desirable
  • Mechanically minded, motivated, self-motivated, result driven individual with excellent communication skills
  • Valuing continuous improvement and being part of a high performing multidisciplinary engineering team
