The Role
Reporting to the Practice Lead - Metallurgy, you will provide technical support to the Copper and Lead Smelter processing activities to deliver the business strategy. You will create capability within the team by leading, developing and mentoring technical personnel. This will be a full-time permanent role that offers an attractive remuneration package and benefits including market-related superannuation and a focused approach on continuing your professional development.
The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for:
- Provide technical support to Smelter Operations and Metallurgists team and facilitate process improvements to reach set production targets
- Developing plans and KPIs to reach business objectives
- Identify and lead process improvement projects - short and medium term
- Process control improvement identification and implementation
- Provide leadership and guidance to promote a culture of safety and personal development of Metallurgists and Graduates
- Optimize plant efficiencies with a view to reduce operational costs
You will have the following skillset and attributes:
- 10+ years’ experience in pyrometallurgical processing plants with strong exposure to Copper and Lead pyrometallurgy (TSL smelting, PS Converters, Sinter production, Blast Furnace)
- Demonstrated plant improvements from initiation to implementation
- Strong data analytical skills with Excel, PI historian and Power Query/BI skills
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a Smelter and to lead a professional team by example
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels
