Mount Isa Mines is seeking a skilled and motivated Superintendent – Fixed Plant Maintenance and Operations to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to broaden their technical knowledge and further develop their leadership capability. Reporting to the Manager – Maintenance, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, oversee Supervisors and mechanical projects, and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will model our agreed behaviours, promote a strong safety culture and support the delivery of safe, reliable and efficient fixed plant maintenance outcomes.

This is a residential position based in Mount Isa, working a lifestyle 5/2, 4/3 roster—a nine-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities
  • Promote and reinforce a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, engage and motivate a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
  • Provide leadership and support to Supervisors within your area of responsibility.
  • Oversee the maintenance and reliability of fixed plant equipment to support safe and consistent performance.
  • Ensure maintenance activities align with the relevant asset management plans, including statutory and shutdown requirements.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability.
  • Oversee mechanical projects and ensure they are delivered safely, effectively and within agreed parameters.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and functional teams to achieve production, maintenance and reliability objectives.
  • Manage budgets, resources and maintenance priorities effectively.
  • Identify and manage maintenance-related risks in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Model and promote the behaviours expected across the team and broader business.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Five to seven years’ experience in a comparable maintenance leadership role.
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, maintenance management or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in underground mining inclusive of crushing and hoisting systems.
  • Experience leading and engaging multidisciplinary teams.
  • A strong understanding of fixed plant maintenance, reliability and asset management principles.
  • A thorough understanding of risk management in a maintenance environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed leadership, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, outcomes-focused approach with a high level of integrity.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
  • A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
