The Role
We have an opportunity that exists for a Mechanical Fitter to join the Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Area supervisor, you will have the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, working in a dynamic and challenging environment. This position is a residential role in Mount Isa and require you to work 7 days on 7 days off roster, allowing for an excellent work-life balance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Safe and efficient repairs and maintenance of fixed plant assets
  • Undertaking preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on Fixed Plant equipment
  • Safe and high quality of work conducted
  • Identify potential improvements to work practices and conditions
  • Provide feedback to the Leading Hand on a regular basis
  • Supporting improvement projects that aim to reduce unplanned stoppages
  • Work positively in a team environment whilst providing support when called upon
  • Maintaining and improving OH&S and overall operational standards in the workplace
The successful candidate will possess:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role (can include apprenticeship time)
  • Trade qualified Fitter (Supply trade qualification details on application)
  • Innovation and adhering to safety procedures.
  • Ability to think logically and solve problems when required
  • Excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills;
  • Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills with peers, customers and management.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new processes.
  • Hold a current Australian Manual Drivers Licence.
  • Experience in SAP and Microsoft Office would be an advantage or similar system
