Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class Zinc-Lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process Zinc, Lead and Silver from our Open Cut Mining operations. They are then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

About the Role:

We are seeking a self-motivated team player to join our Metallurgy Maintenance team as a Shutdown Maintenance Planner. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being hands-on, has strong problem-solving skills, and takes pride in their work.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure the health and safety of all personnel, with a strong focus on the timely reporting of any environmental or WH&S incidents and accidents.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to achieve planned maintenance goals, effectively communicating these objectives to the team to maximize plant throughput and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Oversee and coordinate plant shutdowns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with crew members
  • Contribute to the achievement of operating budgets and actively identify improvement opportunities within the plant.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of, and compliance with, Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations.

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Trade qualified or degree in mechanical engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with planned maintenance shutdowns
  • The ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of mining industry processing equipment and maintenance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of SAP.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft project.
  • A motivated problem solver with a passion for finding solutions and overcoming challenges.
  • A team player with a hands-on attitude
  • A commitment to making a lasting contribution at MRM and within the wider Glencore group.
