12 month fixed term opportunity (secondment for internal applicants)

Reporting to the Senior Training Advisor - Skills Centre, this role will be responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of training and assessment materials to ensure Mount Isa Mines has a workforce that is trained and competent in the foundation skills and knowledge required to fulfil their roles.

This position consists of 75% interactive training delivery and assessment, as well as 25% project work – administration, compliance and training package review/development. This position works an attractive nine day fortnight (5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off), promoting a healthy work-life balance and involvement in the local community. Support with relocation and initial housing benefits will be provided for the successful applicant to reside in Mount Isa.  

Your main responsibilities will be:
  • The delivery and assessment of G1 Introduction to Hazard ID & Risk Assessment and other site task specific training
  • Using your expertise to assist with the development and review of training packages and associated documents in the HSEC Management System
  • Assisting with creating simulated work environments for training and assessments conducted at the Skills Centre
  • Actively participate in the SafeWork programs and demonstrate a positive safety culture
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Relevant training qualification (or ability to obtain);
  • Current Australian Drivers Licences
  • A proven degree of computer literacy with a demonstrated ability to work with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook;
  • Collaborative spirit with strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Experience in developing and mapping training materials (desirable);
  • Experience in the mining or other heavy industry with operational experience; and
  • A self-starting attitude, along with effective task/project management skills.
