Glencore are currently advertising for a Refinery Operator (Anode) vacancy that exists in the Smelting and Refining team. This role is based in Townsville, working a 3 Days on 4 Days off, 12 Hour Shift Roster.

About the role 

Reporting to the Production Supervisor – Anode Casting, you will contribute to the safe production of re-cast Copper Anode within the Anode Casting Area. You will be responsible for operating a comprehensive range of processing equipment to the required standards and supporting safe, efficient production outcomes.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Safely operate copper anode casting and associated processing equipment.
  • Operate and monitor plant equipment and processes.
  • Identify and assist with troubleshooting operational issues.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Work effectively within a small team environment while accepting individual responsibility for outcomes.

 

About you – skills and experience

We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused individual with experience working in an industrial manufacturing, processing or heavy industry environment. You will have a proven ability to follow operating procedures, adapt to changing production demands and work effectively within a team to achieve operational targets. Experience working in continuous process operations, where attention to detail, situational awareness and a commitment to safe work practices are critical, will be highly regarded. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

 

You will have the following skills:

  • Current Forklift Licence (essential).
  • Previous experience in molten metal processes (or willingness to learn)
  • Experience in control room operations and exposure to DCS or SCADA control systems (preferrable)
  • Aptitude for mechanical equipment operation, troubleshooting and solution-seeking.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and work rotating shift rosters.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach to safety and a self-starting attitude.
