Superintendent Metallurgy | McArthur River Mine | Northern Territory
Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class Zinc-Lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process Zinc, Lead and Silver from our Open Cut Mining operations. They are then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent – Metallurgy Technical to join our team as a frontline leader. This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise and people leadership capability. You will be responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the Technical Metallurgy team to achieve production targets and drive continuous improvement across the plant.

Key Responsibilities:
- Optimise metallurgical plant performance by identifying and implementing process improvements to maximise production outcomes
- Lead and implement new initiatives, equipment installations, and plant trials
- Oversee the professional operation of the onsite laboratory and provide technical support as required
- Contribute to business planning, budgeting, and performance reporting processes
- Lead, develop, and support a team of skilled professionals to achieve operational excellence
- Demonstrate strong safety and environmental leadership by reinforcing adherence to Fatal Hazard Protocols and Life-Saving Behaviours, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Mentor and coach team members to enhance capability and foster a high-performance culture
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders across the business
- Monitor and manage production performance by optimising resource allocation to meet KPIs and budget targets while driving continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
- Successful Applicants Will Have:
- Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated technical experience within a processing plant environment
- Previous leadership experience in a supervisory or superintendent-level role
- Skills & Capabilities
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using multiple operational systems
- Sound understanding of budget management and reporting processes
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams to deliver business outcomes
- A strong commitment to safety, risk management, and continuous improvement, with a safety-first mindset
