Advisor - Training


Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola.

We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine, it is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers worldwide.

Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

 

We are currently seeking a site-based Training Advisor to develop, deliver, and coordinate training programs to ensure all site personnel are competent, safe, and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.

This role plays a key part in maintaining operational readiness by assessing worker capabilities, managing training records, and supporting a strong safety culture across the mine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing, recording, reporting, and advising on all aspects of site training as outlined in the site Training and Governance Framework.
  • Identifying, planning and coordinating internal and external training programs to address site competency requirements through stakeholder engagement and requirements of the site Training Needs Analysis (TNA).
  • Developing, updating, and continuously improving course curriculum, and identifying and implementing other improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence.
  • Conducting training courses, including new personnel orientation/ induction and risk management workshops.
  • Maintaining and upholding MRM’s training systems, policies, procedures, in conjunction with the Training and Governance Framework.
  • Perform Training Administration duties as required.

 

Requirements for Successful Applicant:

  • Previous experience in mining, resources, or heavy industry (training experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and their application in the workplace.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced site environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across multiple departments.
  • Ability to strategize, forecast training needs and formulate training plans to assist departments in achieving operational goals.
  • Informed data analytics and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with training management systems and MS Office Suite.
