This is a residential based position within the Mount Isa community, working a 5/2, 4/3 roster. We encourage suitably qualified and experienced local candidates to apply. About the role
In this role, you will lead and motivate the George Fisher Mine Projects department in a safe and cost-effective manner to establish optimal strategies for process improvement and via the delivery of long-term capital projects. Reporting to the Manager – GFM Maintenance you will be responsible for prioritising and resourcing projects to achieve business targets and budget outcomes.
This role represents a fantastic opportunity to leverage your people leadership skills and technical knowledge, to not only deliver best-in-class engineering outcomes but also fostering an inclusive and supportive culture to positively develop your team.

About the role

Key responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate the George Fisher Mine Projects department in a safe and cost effective manner.
- Establish optimal strategies for process improvement and deliver long term capital projects.
- Prioritise and resource projects to ensure delivery against business targets and budget outcomes.
- Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team across Electrical, Civil and Mechanical disciplines.
- Deliver planned capital projects and provide engineering and drafting support to maintenance, safety, reliability and operations teams.
- Support the coordination of planned plant shutdowns and contribute to major maintenance activities.
- Manage and oversee the structural inspection program as required.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a mining environment in a similar role.
- Experience in Engineering, Project Delivery or Maintenance Engineering.
- Previous leadership experience managing engineering teams.
- Demonstrated experience in budget control.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, SAP and/or similar software packages.
- Background in asset or maintenance strategy.
- Experience in computerised Maintenance systems, Asset Management Principles, process Optimisation and Atomisation.
- Be a passionate people leader, able to develop, motivate and mentor team members.
- Have Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to lead through influence.
- Have highly developed problem-solving abilities, in complex delivery environments.
- Strong Finance Management and Analytical Skills Such as Budgeting and Long-term forecasting.
