About the role: 

Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Mine Operations, the Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Mine Operations will be responsible for supporting operational technologies within the department and leveraging data in ad-hoc reporting, studies and investigations. This role works closely with colleagues across technical services, operations, and external contractors to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong communication skills, proven leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. For someone who can build effective relationships across teams and departments.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Analyze data, develop and maintain reports and data queries to provide the team with the best possible data to base day to day production decisions on
  • Assist with the continuous training and support of all Dispatchers and Supervisors in the proper use of the installed Dispatch System and data-driven tools
  • Communicate project objectives and deploy new technologies to several departments at site and across EVR including; technical engineering groups, mining supervisors and equipment operators
  • Work on a range of development activities such as economic evaluations and productivity analysis
  • Other responsibilities as required or as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Mine or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience and certification)
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years previous work experience in an open pit mining environment with previous experience using WENCO Fleet Management Systems or equivalent (preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced computational skills (SQL, VBA, Power BI and Office 365)
  • A strong desire to apply technical and operational knowledge in the continuous improvement of the operation
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and effectively troubleshoot problems are essential skills for this role
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
