Copper Refineries are currently seeking suitably qualified applicants for the role of a Product Control Officer to join the Metallurgical team.
Townsville Operations
Located on the coast in tropical North Queensland, Glencore’s Townsville Operations encompass Copper Refineries Pty Ltd and Glencore Port Operations.
Our Townsville Operations mark the final link in Glencore’s fully integrated north Queensland supply chain, connecting the natural resources we produce with markets around the world.
Copper Refineries Pty Ltd is one the world’s leading electrolytic copper refineries, capable of producing 300,000 tonnes per year of premium-quality ISA brand LME Grade A copper cathode using Glencore’s proprietary IsaKIDD refining process. Glencore Port Operations at the Port of Townsville is the export gateway for our north Queensland products.

We are looking for a motivated person to join us in the role of Product Control Officer within the Metallurgical team.
Reporting to the Superintendent Metallurgical Process, this position will require you to work in a small team managing the preparation and dispatch of copper cathode from the Copper Refinery.

The Role
We are looking for a motivated person to join us in the role of Product Control Officer within the Metallurgical team.
Reporting to the Superintendent Metallurgical Process, this position will require you to work in a small team managing the preparation and dispatch of copper cathode from the Copper Refinery.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Loading of customer orders to production database
- Planning and coordinating the transport of copper cathode
- Weekly and monthly stock count and associated data entry
- Daily cathode and anode production and receipt data entry
- Daily and monthly reporting
- Weighing and strapping of cathode bundles
- Identification of non-conforming bundles for inspection
- Liaising with multiple teams including commercial, production, maintenance and laboratory
The successful applicants will have:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a logistics, dispatch or warehousing role
- A current forklift competency
- A high attention to detail
- Demonstrated intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel skills including the tracking of errors and formulae
- Proactive approach to safety
- Candidates must by physically capable of performing outdoor work for up to 60% of the workday, as this role involves significant outdoor responsibilities.
- An ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer needs

- Sound communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve
- A self-starting attitude and be able to accept individual responsibility with a small work team.
