Glencore are currently advertising for a Payroll Officer vacancy that exists in the Regional Finance and Supply team. This role is based in Brisbane, working a Monday–Friday office based roster.

Our Glencore Metals Australia (GMA) business encompasses a complex and diverse scope across Zinc, Nickel and Copper Assets in Qld, NT and WA, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants (concentrators, smelters and a refinery) and port facilities.

About the role
Reporting to the Senior Payroll Officer, the Payroll Officer plays a critical role in ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time. This position is essential to the smooth operation of payroll services across the organisation, requiring a high level of accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail. The role supports seamless payroll processing, compliance with legislative requirements, and timely resolution of payroll matters, contributing to a positive employee experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up to date payroll records, including regular audits to identify and prevent errors or discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation, awards, and company policies
- Process scheduled payroll cycles accurately and within agreed timeframes
- Manage ad hoc payroll runs, including terminations, corrections and adjustments
- Communicate effectively with employees regarding payroll enquiries and issues
- Maintain thorough records of payroll transactions and related communications
- Support internal and external payroll audits, ensuring records and processes are audit ready
- Participate in testing and validation of new payroll system modules or system updates
- Assist with continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls

You understand the importance of confidentiality and compliance, and you approach your work with integrity, precision and accountability. Comfortable working to strict deadlines, you enjoy supporting employees and stakeholders by providing clear communication and reliable payroll services. You are organised, proactive and work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of payroll processes.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in payroll processing or payroll administration
- Strong understanding of payroll functions including taxation, superannuation and statutory requirements
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional handling of sensitive employee information
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, including record keeping and documentation
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees regarding payroll enquiries
- Experience managing ad hoc pays, adjustments and off cycle payrolls
- Confidence supporting audits and ensuring payroll processes are audit?ready
- Experience using payroll systems and payroll related technology (beneficial)
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support continuous improvement initiatives
