Position Overview

Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, the Environmental Technician must safely carry out an assortment of field and office work to meet business and regulatory needs.  Position involves considerable amount of time in the field in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain environmental monitoring and inspection programs which include but are not limited to ambient air, surface water, groundwater, potable water, as well as tailings and dam management programs
  • Support the Environmental Department in data collection, management, analysis, and internal and external provincial and federal regulatory reporting (e.g., MEWS, MERS, Air Quality Data, NPRI)
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance Net Present Value (NPV) and support the company’s strategic environmental objectives and targets
  • Respond to and investigate environmental incidents and spills, providing recommendations and ensuring proper response actions
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory and field monitoring equipment
  • Serve as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) pilot to conduct inspections and surveys
  • Participate in government audits and regulatory inspections
  • Assist with the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials
  • On occasion will have to lift up to 50lbs.

Qualifications

  • College/University degree in Environmental Studies or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in the mining industry is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, including boat and ATV safety
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, power point) and strong data management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts (Kidd Operations reserves the right to modify working schedules as necessary, in accordance with applicable notice requirements and labor regulations.)

We offer a competitive wage and bonus plan complemented by a comprehensive range of benefits.Wage will vary depending on experience, education and certification. $70,000.00 - $86,000.00 annually. Candidates must ensure that progressive, sustainable improvements within the department are consistent with business objectives and our health, safety, environmental and community policies.
