Mine Ventilation Technician

Position Overview

Reporting to the Mine Technical Services Superintendent, the Mine Vent Tech is accountable for providing technical support in an underground environment to ensure safe and cost-effective production. The successful candidate will be a technology orientated individual that will work in the areas of survey, ventilation and mine systems along with a team of technicians, technologists, engineers and production personnel. Responsibilities include carrying out measurements, calculations, designs, and inspections with an emphasis on in-field troubleshooting, problem solving, and incorporating technology into their daily tasks.

 

Qualifications

 The ideal candidate must have: 

• A Technician or Technologist diploma in mining, electrical, instrumentation or related trade
• Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Excel, CAD, and data basing
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Experience with 3D modeling, simulation, and automation software packages will be considered an asset
• The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable around cutting-edge, modern mining technology and instrumentation (automated controls, mobile devices, UAVs etc.)

Wage will vary depending on experience, education and certification. Salary range $70,000-$80,000 annually.
