Position Overview:

Reporting to the Warehouse & Surface Shops Supervisor, the Working Leader will actively participate in and support the leadership and day-to-day operations of the warehouse and surface maintenance teams. The role combines hands-on maintenance and repair work with leadership responsibilities to ensure efficient operations and team support.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work on surface infrastructure and shop equipment, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and efficiently
  • Act as the first point of contact for team members, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and support
  • Step in to oversee the department in the Supervisor's absence, ensuring continuity in operations and leadership
  • Work collaboratively with the Supervisor to identify and implement improvements to procedures, equipment performance, and working conditions
  • Promote compliance with company policies, programs, and procedures, as well as health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Support administrative tasks as needed, such as maintaining reports, training records, and performance evaluations

Qualifications:

  • A valid Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate of Qualification or equivalent trade certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support within a maintenance team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and oral) to collaborate with team members and other departments.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Mincom Ellipse is an asset.
