Position Overview
Reporting to the Drilling & Development Supervisor, the Development Miner is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our Jumbo rig, ensuring meticulous preparation of faces for blasting in strict adherence to Kidd Operations’ standard operating procedures. The Development Miner will employ best practices to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment while executing drilling and development tasks.
Responsibilities
- Operating the Jumbo for drilling, loading, and blasting drift/ramp rounds, ensuring precision and safety
- Preparing faces and conducting associated services to facilitate efficient mining operations
- Installing ground control support systems, including rock bolts, rebar, Swellex, and screen, to maintain safety standards
- Utilizing mechanized bolting platforms, staging equipment, scissor lifts, or muck piles as required
- Loading, hauling, dumping, and leveling muck as necessary to support ongoing operations
- Assisting with additional duties, including haulage truck operation and stope mucking when needed
Qualifications
- Full Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core certification
- A minimum of 2 years of underground mining experience, with a strong emphasis on Jumbo operation
- Ability to work at depth in warm conditions
- Valid development licenses, including Mechanized Bolter, Emulsion Loader, and Jumbo
- Experience with equipment such as scooptrams, tractors, pipe and vent installation, and underground service vehicles is an asset
Schedule: 7 days on, followed by 7 days off with 12-hour day shifts (Kidd Operations reserves the right to modify working schedules as necessary, in accordance with applicable notice requirements and labor regulations.)
