The Operation
Mount Isa is a thriving city acting as a hub for regional business, transport, services, and government in North West Queensland.  Townsville located on the coast in tropical North Queensland, Glencore’s Townsville Operations encompass Copper Refineries Pty Ltd and Glencore Port Operations. This role is eligible for relocation to either Townsville or Mount Isa.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced business analyst to join our Glencore Zinc Australia, Information Systems and Technology Department for a full-time ongoing position based in Mount Isa / Townsville.  Reporting to the Senior – Applications position, your main responsibilities will include supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs, eliciting and defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders, managing stakeholder relationships and expectations, requirements management, and communication and participating in multiple projects by completing and updating project documentation.

Your key responsibilities include: 
  • Engage with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and validate business requirements through workshops, interviews, and documentation, ensuring alignment with IS&T strategic objectives
  • Translate business needs into clear, prioritised requirements and maintain effective communication between business units and technical colleagues throughout the project lifecycle
  • Conduct options analysis and vendor market research to identify fit-for-purpose solutions, evaluating alternatives based on functionality, cost, risk, and business alignment
  • Prepare detailed business cases to support decision-making, including cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, and implementation recommendations
  • Produce high-quality artefacts such as requirements specifications, process maps, and functional documentation, and facilitate workshops to ensure stakeholder understanding and buy-in
  • Contribute to project planning activities, including scope definition, timelines, and resource requirements, and provide oversight during development and implementation to ensure requirements are realised
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical colleagues, managing expectations and considering organisational impacts during solution delivery
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and system enhancements, ensuring solutions deliver measurable business value and support continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful applicants will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems / Technology or related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst (preferably IS&T related) or experience in a systems or data/analyst related role
  • Understands key technology building blocks and constraints (data models, interfaces, security, performance) and uses this knowledge to perform options analysis, evaluate vendor solutions, write fit-for-purpose requirements, and maintain end-to-end traceability from business need to delivered functionality
  • Strong communication skills, including prioritising, problem solving and interpersonal relationship building
  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and appreciation for strategy, processes, and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
  • Experience modelling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
  • Relevant IS&T Certifications (e.g. Certified Business Analyst Professional CBAP and/or International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) accreditation) and your understanding or certification in BABOK (Business Analysis Book of Knowledge) is desirable.
