Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Job description

 

 

Reporting directly to the Dispatch Supervisor , the Dispatch Controller is responsible for managing the open-pit mining fleet to maximize production and equipment utilization through the use of the Modular Mining DISPATCH system and associated modules. The incumbent coordinates loading and transportation priorities, ensures operations are aligned with KCC's safety, production, and cost objectives, and serves as the primary point of contact for dispatch logic, fleet allocation, and system parameter governance.

 


His/Her essential functions will include, among others (non-exhaustive list):

 

•    Ensure responsibility for the operation, maintenance, accuracy and availability of the Modular /FMS mining dispatch computer system.
•    Optimize the system to support production efficiency, adherence to the mining plan, and the reliability of captured data.
•    Ensure user access management, system security, database health, and proper material routing configuration.

•    Configure and maintain DISPATCH settings, including routes, constraints, priorities, material types, dumping rules, truck queues, and shovel assignments.
•    Ensure the correct allocation of the fleet and adherence to operational sequences and production targets.
•    Monitor production in real time using Interval Control techniques to identify deviations, inefficiencies and non-conformity situations.

•    Identify and resolve bottlenecks, waiting times, equipment underutilization, and cycle time inefficiencies.
•    Ensure rigorous monitoring of short-term production and communicate any deviations from the plan.
•    To guide, coach and support Dispatch team members to ensure a high level of performance, accuracy and consistency.

•    Assign and supervise project-related tasks, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality of deliverables.
•    Implement structured training programs for people using or interacting with the Dispatch system.
•    Standardize Dispatch Centre SOPs, emergency procedures and radio protocols and ensure that documentation is up-to-date and effectively used.

•    Promote a high-performance culture, characterized by calmness, precision and the ability to make decisions, especially in situations of pressure or incident.
•    Collaborating with IT and Communications teams to ensure the availability and reliability of the mine network, GPS infrastructure, radio systems and ground stations.
•    Coordinate the reporting and resolution of failures as well as planned maintenance activities.

•    Record and escalate network or hardware issues to the OT/IT teams.
•    Participate in the installation, testing and commissioning of new FMS equipment.
•    Ensure that all Dispatch operations comply with KCC policies, Glencore standards, mining safety regulations and OEM guidelines.

•    Participate in toolbox meetings, security reviews, incident investigations and departmental training sessions.
•    Ensure that work areas, equipment, systems and interfaces are maintained in a safe, functional and auditable condition.
•    Apply the timing and event coding correctly in accordance with approved H-TUM standards.

 

 

Job requirements 

 

Qualifications and experience

 

•    Hold a university degree in Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Systems Administration or Data Analysis or in a relevant related field.
•    Demonstrate at least 3 to 5 years of experience with Fleet Management Systems ( FMS ), with a strong preference for Modular Mining.
•    Must have at least 3 years of experience in mining operations and dispatch.

•    Solid practical knowledge of open-pit mining processes.
•    Good understanding of security management systems.
•    Ability to work in remote and demanding environments.

•    A good command of French is required; proficiency in English is an asset.
