Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the direct supervision of  the Maintenance Supervisor, the role of the incumbent will be to ensure the electrical and electronic maintenance of KTO's fleet of underground mobile equipment. He/She will be involved in Sandvik drills as well as Caterpillar loaders and trucks. The position includes the diagnosis, testing, repairs and return to service of electrical, electronic, control and communication systems. He/She will contribute directly to the availability and reliability of equipment. The position involves close collaboration with mechanics, planning and reliability teams, mining operations and manufacturers' technical representatives.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Provide preventive electrical maintenance. This includes planned inspections and interventions on electrical, electronic, wiring, sensors, batteries, starters, alternators and related devices.
  • Diagnosing electrical and electronic failures. This includes the use of wiring diagrams, measuring instruments, and diagnostic tools to identify the causes of failures.
  • Repair equipment electrical systems. This includes repairing or replacing faulty cables, connectors, sensors, relays, electronic components, and other components.
  • Perform electrical and functional tests. This includes electrical measurements, functional checks, and checks necessary before return to service.
  • Intervene during equipment breakdowns. This includes the rapid diagnosis of electrical failures affecting drilling rigs, loaders and underground trucks.
  • Analyze recurring failures. This includes analyzing maintenance histories, downtime, and component health.
  • Contribute to improved reliability. This includes proposing improvements to maintenance practices, components, and service intervals.
  • Ensure the documentation of interventions. This includes recording work orders, defects, repairs, parts used and test results in SAP.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance trades. This includes supporting mechanics when troubleshooting multiple systems.
  • Comply with electrical safety requirements. This includes the application of applicable insulation, verification, energy control and safety requirements.

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Technical degree, professional qualification or equivalent training in electrical, electrical/electronic engineering, automotive electricity or related field.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in electrical and electronic maintenance of mobile mining equipment.
  • Hands-on experience on Sandvik and/or Caterpillar underground equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring, sensors, control systems and communication systems.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and wiring plans.
  • Experience with electrical measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of SAP or a computerized maintenance management system is an advantage.
