Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent – Underground Mobile Equipment Maintenance, the role of the incumbent will be to provide specialized technical expertise in the planned maintenance and technical services of underground drilling rigs. He/She will provide hands-on support during complex interventions, major maintenances and repairs, while ensuring compliance with manufacturer requirements and KCC standards. The position will help improve equipment reliability and reduce recurring failures. He/She will also provide support for maintenance planning and reliability improvement initiatives. An important part of the role will be to develop the technical skills of the national maintenance staff.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Provide technical expertise during planned maintenance. This includes supporting major maintenance operations, inspections and technical interventions on underground drills.
  • Provide support for complex repairs. This includes interventions on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems requiring advanced technical expertise.
  • Diagnosing complex technical problems. This includes analyzing equipment data, manufacturer information, and maintenance history.
  • Ensuring compliance with the manufacturer's standards. This includes verifying that the work complies with the applicable technical procedures and requirements.
  • Analyze recurring failures. This includes identifying causes and making recommendations to improve reliability.
  • Contribute to reliability improvement initiatives. This includes improving preventative tasks, service intervals, component life, and maintenance practices.
  • Support maintenance planning. This includes identifying the need for parts, tools, labor, and access needed for service orders.
  • Provide technical reports and recommendations. This includes communicating technical findings, identified issues and recommendations to the maintenance department.
  • Coordinate interventions with technical stakeholders. This includes collaboration with mining operations, planning, reliability, technical services, HSE and manufacturer representatives.
  • Developing the skills of maintenance staff. This includes coaching, practical coaching and the transfer of technical skills to national staff.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Degree or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, heavy equipment engineering and/or equivalent work experience as well as demonstrated technical skills, recognized as part of our overall evaluation process.
  • Have at least ten (10) years of experience in the maintenance of underground mining mobile equipment or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Significant experience in the maintenance of underground mobile equipment in the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Demonstrated experience with Sandvik and/or Caterpillar equipment or equivalent technologies.
  • Strong experience in planned maintenance, troubleshooting, reliability and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with major maintenance, component replacements, complex repairs, commissioning or recommissioning.
  • Experience with SAP or a computerized maintenance management and maintenance planning system. Demonstrated ability to coach, coach and transfer technical skills to national staff.
