Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the role of the incumbent will be to ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of underground drills to ensure their availability, reliability and operational performance. He/She will perform preventive maintenance, inspection, diagnosis and repair activities on drilling equipment. The position covers mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems associated with drilling rigs and drilling systems. He/She will contribute to the identification and elimination of recurring failures as well as the improvement of equipment reliability. He/She will work closely with the mine production, maintenance planning, reliability and technical services teams.
He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
- Provide preventative maintenance of drill rigs. This includes performing inspections, maintenance, and planned interventions in accordance with maintenance programs, manufacturer's requirements, and KCC's maintenance standards.
- Inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This includes inspection of hammer and drill string feed, rotation, positioning, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, compressed air, water, and lubrication.
- Diagnosing equipment failures. This includes methodically identifying the causes of failure from appropriate technical manuals, schematics, manufacturer information, and diagnostic instruments.
- Perform mechanical and hydraulic repairs. This includes adjustments, component replacements, repairs, and interventions necessary to restore normal operation of equipment.
- Perform pre-return to service checks. This includes post-repair inspections, functional testing, and verification that safety devices are properly reinstalled before handing over equipment to operations.
- Identify emerging failures. This includes detecting leaks, abnormal wear, noise, vibration, abnormal temperatures, and other signs of deterioration.
- Contribute to the analysis of recurring failures. This includes analyzing maintenance history, component condition, and equipment performance in order to propose corrective actions.
- Ensure the documentation of interventions. This includes updating work orders in SAP, inspection reports, defects found and maintenance history.
- Comply with safety requirements and technical standards. This includes the application of energy isolation and verification procedures, critical safety controls, KCC standards and manufacturer's requirements.
- Contribute to the development of the team's skills. This includes sharing practical knowledge, supporting less experienced colleagues, and participating in maintenance improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- State diploma in general mechanics or automotive mechanics;
- Have at least five (5) years of experience in the maintenance of underground mining mobile equipment or heavy industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience with Sandvik and/or Caterpillar underground equipment or equivalent technologies.
- Solid knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Knowledge of transmission, braking, steering, cooling and lubrication systems, depending on the scope of the equipment.
- Experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, component replacement and inspection.
- Proficiency in SAP or a computerized maintenance management system is an advantage.
