Job description

 


Reporting directly to the Dispatch Engineer , the Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for managing and optimizing Dispatch Center operations to maximize safety, fleet productivity, and mining performance. They oversee the Modular Mining Fleet Management System (FMS) and associated mining technologies, including Provision, Argus, GPS, Block Grade Management, Fatigue Management Systems (FMS), Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS), Operator Alerting System (OAS), and Driver Safety. Systems (DSS).

 

The incumbent is responsible for real-time production monitoring, equipment allocation, material handling optimization, operational data quality control, and fleet performance analysis. They identify operational constraints, analyze cycle times, delays, and production deviations, and then implement corrective actions to improve productivity, reduce costs, and support mine plan objectives.

 

The Dispatch Supervisor works closely with the Production, Planning, Geology, Survey, Maintenance, Business Improvement , HSSE, and IT/OT teams to ensure the availability and performance of dispatch systems and mining technology infrastructure. They lead and develop the dispatch teams while fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, operational discipline, and organizational excellence.

 


His /Her essential functions will include, among others (non-exhaustive list):

 

•    Supervise the daily operations of the Dispatch and ensure the efficient use of the Modular Mining / FMS system.
•    Ensure the reliability, availability, accuracy and optimal use of Dispatch's computerized system.
•    Oversee equipment allocation, transport sequences, production priorities, and material movements.

•    Monitor production activities in real time to identify discrepancies, delays, inefficiencies, underutilization, and operational constraints.
•    Analyze cycle times, waiting times, truck queues and equipment utilization to identify opportunities for improvement.

•    Configure and maintain Dispatch system settings, including routes, constraints, priorities, material types, unloading rules, and equipment assignments.

•    Ensure that Dispatch activities are aligned with the mining plan and short-term production objectives.
•    Ensure the collection, validation and transmission of production data, equipment usage and material movements.
•    Produce and provide the daily, weekly and monthly operational reports required by Production, Planning, Business Improvement and Management.

•    Supervise, train, mentor and support Dispatch team members to ensure a high level of performance, accuracy and compliance.
•    Ensure compliance with Dispatch procedures, security requirements, communication protocols and escalation procedures.
•    Collaborating closely with Production, Short- Term Planning, Geology, Surveying, Geotechnical , Maintenance, Business Improvement , HSSE, Training, Grade Control and IT/OT teams.

•    Coordinate with the IT, OT and Communication teams the availability of the mine network, GPS systems, radio equipment and infrastructure necessary for the operation of the Dispatch.
•    Identify, report and track the resolution of failures related to Dispatch hardware, network and systems.
•    Participate in the installation, testing and commissioning of new FMS equipment and systems.

•    Ensure that event and time coding procedures are applied in accordance with approved standards.
•    Participate in security meetings, toolbox meetings, incident reviews, training sessions and continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Identify and implement opportunities to improve fleet productivity, reduce waiting times and optimize costs per ton.

•    Contribute to the preparation and monitoring of the budget related to Dispatch systems, equipment, communications and critical parts.
•    Analyze the operational and financial impacts of delays, unavailability, inefficiencies and other production losses.

•    Ensure that the equipment and assets of the Dispatch department, including communication equipment, weighing systems, GPS stations and mobile equipment, are maintained in good working order.
•    Promote a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement and performance within the Dispatch team.

 

 

Job requirements 

 

Qualifications and experience

 

•    Hold a university degree in Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Systems Administration or Data Analysis or in a relevant related field.
•    Demonstrate at least five (5) years of experience in mining operations, dispatch, fleet management, production control or a similar function.
•    Ideally, candidates should have five (5) years of experience with Fleet Management Systems (FMS), with experience in Modular Mining / DISPATCH highly desirable.

•    Possess good experience in an open-pit mine environment and a good understanding of loading, transport and unloading processes.
•    Demonstrate experience in supervising, mentoring or coordinating an operational team.
•    Have a good understanding of mining production systems, equipment use and performance indicators.

•    Ability to work in a remote, demanding mining environment subject to operational constraints.
•    A good command of French is required; proficiency in English is an asset.

 

 

Technical skills.

 

•    Solid knowledge of Fleet Management System (FMS) and, ideally, Modular Mining DISPATCH.
•    Good understanding of open-pit mining operations and production flows.
•    Mastery of fleet allocation and optimization principles.

•    Good ability to analyze cycle times, equipment usage, delays , queues and production variances.
•    Ability to use operational data to identify constraints and propose improvements.

•    Data reporting and analysis systems .

•    Good understanding of GPS, radio, network and technological equipment systems used in Dispatch operations.
•    Ability to produce and interpret production reports and performance indicators.
•    Good knowledge of the safety requirements applicable to mining operations.

•    Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
