Glencore are currently advertising for a Logistics Support Officer vacancy that exists in the Logistics team. This role is residentially based in Townsville, working a Monday–Friday roster.

Our Glencore Metals Australia (GMA) business encompasses a complex and diverse scope across Zinc, Nickel and Copper Assets in Qld, NT and WA, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants (concentrators, smelters and a refinery) and port facilities.

About the role

This position reports to the Supervisor – Logistics and will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth, cost effective and compliant movement of commodities across Glencore Metals Australia logistics network. This position is central to maintaining accurate contractual, operational and accounting records, while supporting senior management and key stakeholders with timely insights that drive informed decision making.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accurate records to support timely reporting of contractual, operational and accounting requirements for Logistics contracts.
  • Monitor and report on service provider performance against contractual obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant company policies.
  • Provide summaries of logistics contracts, including minimum obligations and service charges, to support decision?making.
  • Reconcile, submit and process monthly logistics invoices in line with contractual obligations and delegated authorities.
  • Maintain accurate accounting accruals and transport estimates.
  • Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, including weekly phone contact and quarterly face to face meetings.

 

You will ideally possess the following skillset and attributes:

  • Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Ability to maintain high quality administrative processes and minimise rework.
  • Effective communication and relationship building with internal teams and service providers.
  • Confidence in managing contractual information and summarising key obligations.
  • Organised and deadline driven, ensuring accurate billing and reporting.
  • Collaborative approach with consistent stakeholder engagement.
  • High level of accountability in maintaining accurate records and financial data.
