Our operations, projects and commercial activities across Argentina form an important part of our South American portfolio. We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager – Argentina to join our Group Tax function in Buenos Aires and provide tax support across our businesses and project interests in the country.
The Role
The Tax Manager – Argentina will be responsible for supporting Glencore’s tax affairs across Argentina, providing expertise across tax governance, compliance, advisory and planning.
Working closely with the Regional Tax Manager, Latin America, Group Tax, Finance and business stakeholders, the role will help ensure our Argentine activities meet statutory and Group requirements while providing practical tax advice to support commercial decisions, projects and business initiatives.
This is a broad role requiring strong technical expertise in Argentine taxation combined with the ability to operate effectively within a complex, international and multi-stakeholder environment.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Governance & Compliance
- Support the implementation and ongoing application of Glencore Group tax policies and procedures across Argentina.
- Oversee and support tax compliance obligations, working closely with Finance teams and external tax advisors.
- Provide day-to-day advice on Argentine corporate tax, indirect taxes, transfer pricing and international tax matters.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of tax returns and other statutory requirements.
- Manage tax audits, reviews and enquiries from ARCA and other relevant authorities, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external advisors as required.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory and administrative developments and assess their potential impact on Glencore’s activities.
- Support tax risk reviews and tax health checks across Argentine businesses and projects.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen tax controls, reporting and compliance processes.
Tax Advisory & Business Partnering
- Provide practical tax advice to Finance, Commercial, Marketing, project and operational stakeholders.
- Support commercial transactions, investments, projects and other strategic business initiatives from a tax perspective.
- Identify and assess tax planning opportunities aligned with Glencore’s business strategy, governance framework and risk appetite.
- Advise on the implications of new or changing Argentine and international tax legislation.
- Work with Group and regional tax colleagues on cross-border and international tax matters.
- Translate complex tax issues into clear, commercially relevant advice for senior stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with Finance teams and business leaders across Glencore’s activities in Argentina.
- Work closely with the Regional Tax Manager, Latin America and the wider Group Tax team.
- Develop constructive working relationships with tax authorities, external advisors, auditors and professional service providers.
- Deliver technical updates, presentations and tax awareness sessions to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Manage external advisors effectively, including scope, quality, cost and delivery.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to simplify and improve tax processes, controls and reporting.
- Support increased use of technology, automation and data analytics within tax activities.
- Contribute to the development of tax planning, reporting and analytical models.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities within the tax function and monitor external advisory expenditure.
About You
You will bring strong knowledge of the Argentine tax environment together with the judgement and commercial awareness required to operate within a large multinational organisation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, Law or another relevant discipline.
- Professional tax qualification and/or postgraduate studies in taxation would be advantageous.
- Significant professional experience in Argentine taxation, gained within a multinational organisation, natural resources or commodities business, or a leading professional services firm.
- Strong knowledge of corporate taxation, indirect taxes, transfer pricing and international tax principles.
- Experience managing tax audits and engagements with Argentine tax authorities.
- Experience supporting complex commercial transactions, projects or business initiatives from a tax perspective.
- Exposure to mining, natural resources, energy or other capital-intensive industries would be advantageous.
