Maintenance Planner - Shutdown

Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Job description.

Reporting directly to the Senior Maintenance Planner, the incumbent will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling all maintenance activities and shutdowns to ensure their safe, efficient execution within deadlines, resource constraints, and operational objectives. They will oversee work preparation, resource availability, schedule optimization, and shutdown performance monitoring. Working closely with maintenance, operations, supply chain, and contractor teams, they will contribute to maximizing facility availability and supporting the continuous improvement of mining operations performance.

His responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Defining the scope of the shutdown work includes analyzing work orders, identifying critical activities, and validating the work to be carried out with stakeholders.
• Planning maintenance activities for technical shutdowns includes developing detailed work plans specifying the methods, resources, tools, equipment, and materials required.
• Ensuring the availability of materials and resources includes coordinating with the supply chain, suppliers and relevant teams to guarantee the availability of critical items before work begins.
• Developing shutdown schedules includes preparing detailed plans, analyzing the critical path, and optimizing work sequences to meet established deadlines.
• Controlling the scope of work and changes includes assessing the impacts of changes on costs, timelines and resources, as well as updating planning documentation.
• Coordinating preparation and mobilization activities includes preparing planning documents, participating in preparation meetings, and verifying the readiness of the work.
• Monitoring the execution of technical stops includes daily monitoring of work progress, analysis of deviations, and updating of performance indicators and reports.
• Producing performance reports includes preparing daily and weekly reports as well as communicating results to stakeholders to support decision-making.
• Managing urgent work and unforeseen interventions includes assessing their impacts on resources, materials, costs and downtime while supporting the approval process.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of technical shutdowns includes preparing closing reports, documenting lessons learned, and proposing actions to optimize future performance.

Job requirements.

Qualifications and experience.

• Have an Engineering degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or in an equivalent discipline.
• Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in maintenance planning, industrial maintenance or technical shutdown management.
• Having experience in an industrial or mining environment is an asset.
• Having a professional certification in maintenance or planning is an advantage.

Technical skills.

• Having a good command of a CMMS system, particularly SAP PM or equivalent software.
• Have a good command of planning tools such as Microsoft Project and Gantt charts.
• Have a good understanding of maintenance planning methods, critical path analysis and technical shutdown management.
• Ability to develop detailed working files and to monitor performance indicators.
• Having a good understanding of materials management, resources and contractor coordination.
