Main objectives of the position

Under the direct supervision of the Inventory Management Manager, the Superintendent Inventory Management (Demand Planning) is responsible for managing and coordinating demand planning and inventory forecasting activities to ensure accurate material availability, aligned with operational, maintenance and shutdown needs. He/She is responsible for translating operational and maintenance plans in anticipation of inventory demand and replenishment needs.

 

Minimum qualification

  • University degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS/CPIM, CSCP or equivalent are advantageous.

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain, planning, procurement or inventory management.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry is highly valued.

 

Required skills

  • Demand forecasting and inventory management.
  • ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Pronto, JD Edwards, etc.).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Supply chain analysis and reporting.
  • Understanding of purchasing and warehouse operations and transportation technologies.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and maintain forecasts of moving inventory demand.
  • Coordinate closely with operations and maintenance teams to understand future needs.
  • Translate shutdown plans, maintenance schedules, and operational plans into inventory request signals.
  • Monitor inventory consumption trends and forecast deviations.
  • Maintain inventory planning settings, including min/max levels, order points, and safety stock.
  • Support replenishment planning and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Monitor stock-out risks and proactively increase critical supply risks.
  • Support working capital optimization through improved planning accuracy.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and purchasing teams to understand future needs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and procurement teams regarding forecasted demand.
  • Facilitate communication between departments to ensure alignment of procurement plans with operational needs.
  • Develop reports and dashboards on forecast accuracy and inventory demand trends.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and warehouse teams to align supply execution.
  • Support budgeting and inventory planning processes.
  • Analyze trends in inventory utilization and recommend improvements to the storage strategy.
  • Supervise and coach demand planners and inventory controllers.
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
  • Develop team capacity through training and mentoring.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
  • Ensure demand planning activities support compliance with environmental regulations and company standards
  • Support initiatives to reduce waste, energy consumption and carbon emissions within the supply chain.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives that reduce the waste of obsolete inventory and materials.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
