Main objectives of the position

 

Reporting to the Manager – Inventory Management, the Warehouse Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing warehouse operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and controlled storage, handling, preservation, and movement of materials across the business.

 

The incumbent oversees warehouse operations, receiving and issuing processes, inventory handling, warehouse layout optimization, housekeeping, storage compliance, and inventory transaction discipline. The role ensures operational excellence by maintaining high inventory accuracy, warehouse safety, and compliance with Company governance while supporting operational continuity.

 

Minimum qualification

 

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering Or a related discipline.

 

Preferred Certifications

  • APICS / CPIM
  • CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional)
  • CILT Certification
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

 

Required Experience

 

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience within mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, or oil & gas operations is preferred.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE or Pronto.
  • Experience managing warehouse teams and material handling operations.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and manage day-to-day warehouse operations.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and controlled storage of all materials and inventory.
  • Oversee receiving, inspection, storage, issuing, and dispatch activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely inventory transactions within the ERP system.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and storage utilization.
  • Ensure proper preservation, handling, and storage of materials.
  • Maintain warehouse housekeeping and organization standards.
  • Manage material identification, labelling, and bin location controls.
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO, shelf-life, and critical spare storage requirements.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate warehouse activities with Procurement, Inventory Management, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
  • Supervise warehouse personnel and contractor activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within warehouse operations.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
