Main objectives of the position

 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Heavy Mobile Equipment Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities related to Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) as well as other mobile equipment including light vehicles, forklifts, and mobile cranes.

 

The role ensures the effective execution of maintenance strategies, operational disciplines, and asset management systems to optimize equipment reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance. The incumbent will also drive continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance processes, systems, and structures while ensuring alignment with the company operating model and business objectives.

 

Minimum qualification

 

Degree in Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant engineering-related disciplines

A business qualification related to Maintenance or Asset Management is an added advantage

 

Required Experience

 

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the mining industry at senior management level

Proven experience in managing Heavy Mobile Equipment maintenance at senior level

Strong background in maintenance and asset management systems

Demonstrated experience in driving process, systems, and structural improvements in mining, processing, or manufacturing industries

Experience in maintenance planning, shutdown execution, and lifecycle cost optimization strategies

 

Required skills

Professional proficiency in French (English is highly advantageous)

Demonstrated tactical decision-making capability

Sound commercial and financial acumen

Strong knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance reporting tools

Sound knowledge of maintenance KPIs such as availability, reliability, and MTBF

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Lead and promote safety, health, and environmental compliance across all maintenance activities

Ensure safe and effective maintenance execution for Heavy Mobile Equipment and auxiliary mobile equipment

Drive implementation of maintenance improvement plans to optimize equipment performance

Manage short-term maintenance plans, planned shutdowns, and maintenance schedules

Ensure effective execution of operational disciplines, including daily, weekly, and monthly routines

Monitor and improve asset performance indicators including availability, reliability, and mean time between failures

Ensure accurate maintenance data capture and integrity in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

Oversee spares and component management to support operational continuity

Develop and coach maintenance teams including technicians, planners, coordinators, supervisors, and superintendents

Manage strategic contractor relationships in line with the contract management framework

Ensure timely and accurate reporting to General Manager Operations and other relevant stakeholders

Support cost optimization initiatives, including fleet life extension and lifecycle cost management strategies

Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and enforce compliance with statutory maintenance controls

Comply with Glencore’s environmental procedures and MUMI SARL’s environmental policy
