Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the supervision of the Superintendent: Underground Mine Geology, the Senior Supervisor – Underground Geologist will be responsible for overseeing all underground geological activities to ensure accurate ore identification, effective grade control and alignment of mining operations with geological and production plans. He/she will ensure the optimization of ore recovery, the reduction of dilution and the quality of the geological data used for decision-making. The position involves working closely with the mining, planning, drilling and processing teams to ensure the achievement of operational objectives in an underground copper and cobalt mining environment.
He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):
- Promote safety culture in underground geological activities. This includes the active promotion of safety standards in all underground geological activities, participation in safety meetings and inspections, the identification of geological and operational hazards as well as the implementation of corrective actions to prevent incidents and accidents in the working environment.
- Oversee underground geological activities. This includes overseeing geological mapping, sampling and grade monitoring work in underground areas, while ensuring the quality and accuracy of the information collected to ensure proper geological interpretation and efficient ore mining.
- Ensure grade control and optimization of ore recovery. This includes monitoring grade control activities in development and production areas, validating assay and sampling data, monitoring ore quality, and implementing measures to minimize dilution and ore losses.
- Ensure that mining operations comply with geological plans. This includes verifying the alignment of mine operations with geological models and mine plans, controlling ore/waste line boundaries, and identifying and communicating deviations that may affect ore production or quality.
- Manage and ensure the integrity of geological data. This includes the collection, validation, analysis and archiving of geological, drilling, sampling and analytical data, while ensuring their accuracy, traceability and availability for operational and decision-making needs.
- Contribute to the development of geological models and mining forecasts. This includes participating in the updating of geological models, the development of short-term forecasts as well as the interpretation of geological data in order to improve the planning and performance of underground mining operations.
- Coordinate activities with the various operational and technical teams. This includes working with the mining, planning, surveying, drilling and processing departments on a daily basis to ensure effective communication, coordination of activities and achievement of production and quality objectives.
- Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvement actions. This includes monitoring performance indicators such as dilution, ore losses and grade reconciliation, analyzing gaps between planned and actual results, and implementing initiatives to improve geological and operational processes.
- Ensure regulatory and documentary compliance. This includes meeting company standards, regulatory and environmental requirements as well as maintaining complete documentation that complies with audit requirements and standard operating procedures.
- Supervise, develop and evaluate underground geological teams. This includes supervising geologists and technicians, organizing work, coaching and developing the skills of team members, conducting performance evaluations as well as promoting a culture of accountability, operational discipline and performance.
