Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the supervision of the Senior Supervisor Maintenance Electrical Fixed Plant, the role of the incumbent will be to supervise and coordinate electrical maintenance activities related to fans and compressors in underground mining environments. He/she will ensure the availability, reliability and performance of this critical equipment for ventilation and compressed air. The position involves strict compliance with HSE standards, energy optimization and business continuity. The incumbent will also manage the technical teams and implement maintenance strategies. He/she will actively contribute to the continuous improvement and overall performance of the facilities.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Ensure the management of HSE security. This includes enforcing and enforcing safety standards, promoting a zero-incident culture, ensuring the implementation of LOTOTO procedures, controlling the wearing of PPE and ensuring safe interventions in all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure the availability and reliability of fans and compressors. This includes keeping ventilation and compressed air systems running smoothly, reducing unplanned downtime, and maintaining the continuity of underground mining operations.
  • Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance. This includes organising maintenance interventions, ensuring the provision of equipment (MAD), planning regular maintenance and ensuring that it is carried out in accordance with technical standards.
  • Ensure the configuration and monitoring of the operation of the equipment. This includes configuring systems (VSDs, soft starters, etc.), monitoring operational performance, and adjusting parameters to optimize equipment performance and lifespan.
  • Oversee fault diagnosis and resolution. This includes analyzing failures, guiding teams in resolving complex failures, reducing repetitive failures, and improving facility reliability.
  • Manage and coordinate the technical teams. This includes supervising teams, distributing tasks according to skills and authorisations, ensuring skills development and ensuring the efficient use of human resources.
  • Optimize the energy performance of equipment. This includes analysing the energy consumption of fans and compressors, proposing optimisation actions and improving the energy efficiency of installations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies. This includes defining strategies that are suitable for critical equipment, improving maintenance plans, and helping to reduce costs and downtime.
  • Participate in technical projects and continuous improvement. This includes contributing to installation and commissioning projects, proposing innovative solutions and validating technical improvements to existing systems.
  • Ensure communication and operational reporting. This includes exchanging information with internal teams (dispatch, control room, planning), writing technical reports, monitoring performance indicators and communicating on the condition of equipment and the interventions carried out.

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • University degree in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical or related field (A1 or A0)
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Experience in the maintenance of industrial fans and compressors is highly desired
  • Experience in a mining or industrial environment
  • Experience supervising technical teams
  • Knowledge of ventilation and compressed air systems in underground mines

 

 

Technical skills

 

  • Mastering industrial electricity and mechanics
  • Interpret electrical, electronic and PI&D schematics
  • Understand how variable speed drives (VSDs), soft starters and protection systems work
  • Diagnose electric motors (asynchronous and synchronous)
  • Perform basic vibration analyses
  • Mastering ventilation systems and air compression cycles
  • Use measuring and diagnostic instruments
  • Analyze alarms and supervision systems
  • Use CMMS tools
  • Use technical software (AutoCAD, SEE Electrical, etc.)
