Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the supervision of the Senior Supervisor Electrical and Instrumentation, the role of the incumbent will be to supervise and coordinate all electrical maintenance and instrumentation activities within underground mining operations. He/she will ensure the availability, reliability and performance of the equipment while guaranteeing strict compliance with HSE standards. The position involves managing technical teams, optimizing maintenance strategies and managing complex interventions. He/she will also contribute to the continuous improvement of control, command and communication systems. Finally, the incumbent will actively participate in technical projects and the continuity of mining operations.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Ensure the management of HSE security. This includes enforcing and enforcing safety standards, promoting a zero-incident culture, ensuring the implementation of LOTOTO procedures, controlling the wearing of PPE and ensuring safe interventions in all maintenance activities.
  • Guarantee the availability and reliability of equipment. This includes ensuring business continuity by ensuring the proper functioning of electrical and instrumentation equipment, reducing unplanned downtime, and optimizing overall facility performance.
  • Plan and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance. This includes organizing maintenance interventions, ensuring the availability (MAD) of equipment, monitoring preventive and corrective operations and ensuring their execution within the required deadlines and standards.
  • Supervise the calibration and accuracy of instruments. This includes ensuring the regular calibration of instruments, ensuring the reliability of measurements, maintaining the accuracy of control systems, and meeting technical standards.
  • Manage and coordinate the technical teams. This includes supervising teams of electricians and instrumentalists, distributing tasks according to skills, optimizing the use of resources and ensuring an efficient and collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee fault diagnosis and resolution. This includes analyzing failures, guiding teams in diagnosing complex failures, implementing effective solutions, and reducing repetitive failures.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies. This includes defining strategies that are appropriate for critical equipment, improving maintenance processes, and contributing to the continuous optimization of performance.
  • Contribute to technical and continuous improvement projects. This includes participating in installation, commissioning, equipment validation projects and proposing innovative technical improvements.
  • Manage resources and costs. This includes optimizing the use of material and human resources, managing maintenance costs, and ensuring effective asset management.
  • Ensure communication and operational reporting. This includes exchanging information with internal teams (dispatch, control room, planning), writing technical reports, monitoring performance indicators and communicating on the condition of equipment and the progress of work.

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • University degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation or related field (A1, A0)
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in electrical maintenance and instrumentation
  • Significant experience in an industrial or mining environment
  • Experience supervising technical teams
  • Underground mining experience highly desired
  • Good knowledge of industrial control and communication systems

 

Technical skills

 

  • Master industrial electricity and instrumentation systems
  • Interpret electrical, electronic and PI&D schematics
  • Master the calibration and maintenance of instruments
  • Understanding control loops and control systems
  • Use measuring equipment (multimeters, 4-20 mA calibrators)
  • Use communication protocols (HART, Fieldbus)
  • Diagnosing faults on electrical equipment and automated systems
  • Read and analyze alarms and supervisory systems (SCADA)
  • Use CMMS tools
  • Understanding underground power and communication systems
