Main objectives of the position
Under the direct supervision of the Dispatch Shift Supervisor, the Dispatch – Shift CAS & Fatigue Technicians will be responsible for monitoring, configuring, and maintaining mining safety technology systems within the dispatch environment to ensure safe and efficient mining operations.
The role focuses on real-time monitoring and analysis of Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS), Operator Awareness Systems (OAS), fatigue monitoring systems, CCTV systems, and other digital safety technologies. The incumbent plays a key role in preventing incidents involving mobile equipment by responding to alerts, analyzing trends, and providing critical safety intelligence to support operational decision-making.
Minimum qualification
Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, Data Systems, or related technical discipline.
Certification or training in mining dispatch systems, fleet management systems, or safety technologies is an advantage.
Training in digital monitoring systems, telemetry, or operational technology is beneficial
Required Experience
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the mining industry with a solid understanding of mining operations and health & safety standards.
Experience working with mining safety technologies (CAS, OAS, fatigue monitoring, CCTV) or within a dispatch/control room environment is preferred.
Required skills
Strong knowledge of digital mining safety technologies (CAS, OAS, fatigue monitoring systems, CCTV).
Proven experience in monitoring real-time systems and analyzing operational data.
Ability to monitor and interpret real-time operational data and identify safety risks.
Experience working in a dispatch or operations control room environment.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication skills, including radio communication with field operators.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
Ability to prepare operational reports and safety performance summaries.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
Team collaboration and basic training capability.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and manage real-time alerts from safety systems including CAS, OAS, and fatigue monitoring tools to ensure proactive risk mitigation.
Analyze system data to identify trends, abnormal patterns, and potential safety risks, and escalate issues accordingly.
Support dispatch teams with safety intelligence to enhance operational decision-making and coordination.
Maintain continuous monitoring of multiple systems including CCTV and operational dashboards within the control room.
Communicate promptly with equipment operators and supervisors via radio in case of safety alerts or collision risks.
Ensure all safety monitoring systems are fully operational and report any technical failures or anomalies.
Support the implementation, testing, and continuous improvement of new safety technologies and digital monitoring systems.
Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records of system performance and safety-related events.
Promote a strong safety culture and support training of operators in the use of safety technologies.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards and contribute to incident investigations when required.
Compliance with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures, as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
