Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the supervision of the Manager: TSF Studies & Investigations, the role of the incumbent will be to plan, develop and manage the schedules of projects related to tailings storage facilities (TSF), from the study phases to commissioning and transfer to operations. He/she will ensure the integration of multidisciplinary activities to ensure consistent and optimized project execution. The position involves resource management, schedule risk analysis, and project performance monitoring. He/she will contribute to the development of implementation strategies and decision-making. Finally, he/she will ensure compliance with deadlines, budgets and regulatory requirements.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Develop and manage project schedules. This includes developing detailed schedules covering all phases of TSF projects, defining sequences of activities, dependencies, constraints as well as the critical path, and ensuring that schedules are regularly updated according to actual progress.
  • Develop planning and execution strategies. This includes defining project phases, decision-making milestones, execution plans as well as work sequencing strategies, taking into account technical, operational and environmental constraints.
  • Plan the study phases (conceptual, PFS, FS). This includes organizing engineering, data collection, technical analysis, stakeholder consultations and report preparation activities, while coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Plan the detailed engineering phase. This includes coordinating technical deliverables (plans, specifications, calculations), planning design reviews, integrating procurement activities, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and monitor construction activities. This includes developing detailed construction schedules, planning mobilization, earthworks and infrastructure, monitoring progress on the ground, and putting in place recovery plans in the event of drift.
  • Plan commissioning and handover to operations. This includes organizing pre-commissioning activities, testing, training of operational teams, documentation, and coordination of the handover of facilities to operations.
  • Manage resource planning. This includes developing resource-laden schedules, forecasting labor, equipment, and consultant needs, identifying constraints, and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Produce reports and ensure project communication. This includes preparing progress reports, analyzing gaps, producing performance indicators, developing dashboards, and communicating information to stakeholders.
  • Analyze and manage schedule risks. This includes identifying calendar risks, conducting probabilistic analyses, developing mitigation strategies, monitoring potential impacts, and proposing alternative scenarios.
  • Ensure multidisciplinary coordination and collaboration. This includes working closely with engineers, project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure integration of activities and overall consistency of timelines

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, project management or related field
  • PMP certification (asset)
  • PSP certification (asset)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling major projects (mining or infrastructure)
  • Demonstrated experience on TSF projects or similar geotechnical infrastructure
  • Experience across the entire project lifecycle (studies, design, construction, commissioning)
  • Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) or design-build environments
  • Proficiency in critical path management and risk analysis
  • Experience in project control and earned value management

Technical skills

 

  • Advanced Primavera P6 Mastery
  • Good command of Microsoft Project
  • Excellent knowledge of the Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Competence in risk analysis (Monte Carlo, specialized tools)
  • Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
  • Ability to develop resource- and cost-intensive schedules
  • Knowledge of earned value management principles
  • Understanding of construction methods (earthworks, dikes, dams)
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and deliverables
  • Familiarity with document management systems and collaborative tools
