Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the supervision of the Geotech Engineer Data Collection, the role of the incumbent will be to collect, record and organize geotechnical data from mapping and logging activities in open pit and underground mines. The person will contribute to ensuring the quality, reliability and traceability of data to support the characterization of rock masses and the development of geotechnical models. She will participate in the analysis of the data, its integration into specialized tools and the communication of the results to the technical teams. He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Collecting geotechnical data in the field, this includes carrying out logging and mapping activities in open pit and underground mines according to the instructions received, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensuring the quality and compliance of the data collected includes verifying the accuracy, consistency and completeness of the information collected in accordance with geotechnical standards.
  • Recording and entering data into the appropriate systems, this includes encoding data into Excel files and specialized software in a clear and structured manner.
  • Organizing and archiving geotechnical data includes structuring, securing and maintaining databases to ensure their accessibility and traceability.
  • Analyzing basic geotechnical data, this includes calculating rock mass characterization parameters and producing preliminary interpretations.
  • Assisting in the updating of geotechnical models includes collaborating with geotechnical engineers and contributing to the continuous improvement of models.
  • Communicating the results of mapping and logging includes sharing information and reports with internal stakeholders in a clear and accessible way.
  • Reporting geotechnical anomalies and risks includes identifying and reporting any unstable areas or potentially dangerous situations to ensure everyone's safety.
  • Maintaining data collection equipment includes checking that it is working properly, reporting malfunctions and contributing to its proper use.
  • Applying Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards, this includes following safety procedures, using personal protective equipment and participating in risk assessments.

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold a state diploma (minimum required). Higher education (Bac+3 to Bac+5) in civil engineering, geology or geotechnical engineering is an asset.
  • Have at least three (3) years' professional experience as a mapping or data collection assistant.
  • Experience in logging activities and geotechnical mapping.
  • Experience in collecting, entering and managing technical data.

 

Technical skills

 

  • Use office automation tools, including Microsoft Office (Excel).
  • Manipulate geotechnical software (e.g. Rocscience Dips) or demonstrate an ability to learn it.
  • Apply logging and geotechnical mapping techniques.
  • Use scientific measurement equipment in the field.
  • Understand the principles of rock mass characterization.
  • Manage and ensure the quality of geotechnical data.
