Main objectives of the position
Under the direct supervision of the General Supervisor – Information Systems, the Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, security, and performance of the company’s databases. The role ensures reliable access to critical operational data and supports mining and industrial systems through efficient database management, optimization, and continuous improvement.
Minimum qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent would be an advantage
Required Experience
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in database administration in an industrial, mining, or similar environment
Proven experience with MS SQL Server (administration, configuration, security, maintenance)
Minimum 3 years of experience in SQL development (queries, stored procedures, optimization)
Experience in high-availability environments (AlwaysOn, mirroring, clustering, replication)
Experience in backup and disaster recovery strategies (DRP)
Experience with multi-site distributed systems is a strong advantage
Required skills
Strong understanding of database design, modeling, implementation, and maintenance
Knowledge of data security and access management principles
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail
Ability to support application teams and translate business data needs
Planning and organizational skills
Results-oriented with a proactive mindset
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles is an advantage
Key Responsibilities
Administer, monitor, and maintain company databases to ensure performance, availability, and security
Implement and manage database operational procedures, including access control and data protection
Design and model databases to support business applications and reporting needs
Diagnose database issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
Manage high-availability solutions and ensure system resilience
Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans
Collaborate with application and IT teams to ensure system efficiency and data integrity
Support testing, validation, and deployment of database solutions
Provide training and support to users when required
Manage database-related projects including development and integration initiatives
Ensure compliance with MUMI and Glencore environmental, safety, and data governance standards
