Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the supervision of the OP Grade Control and Reconciliation Superintendent, the role of the incumbent will be to coordinate and optimize the flow of ore from the stockpiles (ROMs) to the crusher to ensure a stable supply in accordance with the requirements of the processing plant. He/she will ensure the efficient management of stockpiles, ore blending and grade control to maximize metallurgical recovery. The position involves close collaboration with the production, geology, dispatch and processing teams. He/she will also contribute to the reduction of ore losses and dilution. Finally, he/she will ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.

 

He/She will have, among others, the following essential functions (non-exhaustive):

 

  • Coordinate the management of ROM stock stacks. This includes planning, supervising and optimizing the construction, location, segregation and maintenance of stockpiles in accordance with grade and ore type specifications to ensure efficient resource management.
  • Ensure the crusher is fed with ore. This includes organizing and controlling the flow of ore to the crusher to ensure a continuous, stable feed that meets processing requirements, while maximizing plant performance.
  • Optimize ore blending. This includes implementing strategies for blending ores from different sources to achieve grade specifications, reduce variability, and improve metallurgical recovery.
  • Monitor and improve operational performance. This includes tracking KPIs such as feed throughput, grade consistency, and inventory levels, and proposing corrective actions to improve overall efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance of production operations. This includes ensuring that ore is extracted and transported to its intended destinations to avoid misclassification or loss of ore.
  • Implement and promote safety standards. This includes applying, monitoring and improving safety procedures, conducting training and promoting a strong safety culture within operational teams.
  • Analyze and correct operational deviations. This includes identifying anomalies in the feed and stock management processes, proposing and implementing corrective actions to minimize dilution and losses.
  • Produce and analyze operational reports. This includes developing detailed reports on production, ore flows, and ROM pad activities to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
  • Supervise and develop teams. This includes training, supervising and supporting teams and junior employees on grade control practices, stockpile management and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders. This includes working closely with the planning, geology, production, dispatch and processing teams to ensure alignment between mining operations and mill requirements.

 

Job Requirements

 

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold a university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in Geology or Earth Sciences
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in grade control, production and ore-to-stock management in a large-scale open-pit mine
  • Have proven experience in stockpile (ROM), blending and crusher feeding operations
  • Experience in a copper and/or cobalt mining environment (asset)
  • Have a valid driver's license

 

Technical skills

 

  • Proficient in geological software such as Datamine Studio RM, Ore Controller, Leapfrog or equivalents
  • Have a good command of advanced Excel and ideally Power BI
  • Possess a solid knowledge of the प्रक्रblending essus, ROM pad and factory power
  • Understand the principles of QA/QC and data validation methodologies
  • Ability to analyze complex data and produce reliable reports
  • Have a good understanding of surface mining operations and the ore value chain.
