Main Objectives of the Position

 

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager – Administration & Services, the Transport Superintendent is responsible for managing all aspects of employee transportation services at Mutanda Mining. This includes company-owned vehicles, contractor-operated transport services, journey management systems, driver management, and fleet lifecycle management.

 

The role ensures that all transportation activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with legal requirements and the Glencore Fatal Hazard Protocol – Mobile Equipment. The Transport Superintendent is responsible for managing transport-related risks, ensuring reliable employee transport services, managing contractors, and driving continuous improvement in transport safety, efficiency, and cost control.

 

Minimum Qualification

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field

Valid driving license

Strong proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Good working knowledge of French is an advantage


Required Experience

 

Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in transport, fleet management, or logistics operations, preferably in mining or industrial environment

At least 3–5 years in a management or supervisory role

Experience managing transport contractors and service providers

Experience in safety, risk management, and transport regulatory compliance

Experience with fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and driver monitoring systems

Experience in developing systems, procedures, and transport policies

Experience managing operational risks and incident investigations

 

Required Skills

Strong understanding of transport operations and fleet management

Knowledge of road transport legislation and compliance requirements

Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills

Good communication and cross-cultural skills

Computer literacy (MS Office and fleet management systems)

Ability to manage emergencies and operational risks

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Develop and manage the employee transport strategy and services across the site

Plan and supervise all employee transport operations and schedules

Ensure compliance with road traffic laws and transport safety regulations

Implement and enforce the Glencore Fatal Hazard Protocol – Mobile Equipment

Manage fleet lifecycle including procurement, maintenance, replacement, and disposal

Implement and manage the Journey Management System (JMS)

Manage drivers including licenses, medical fitness, fatigue management, and training

Manage transport contractors, contracts, and service level agreements

Manage vehicle insurance, incidents, and claims processes

Ensure transport service quality, reliability, safety, and employee satisfaction

Manage transport emergency response and business continuity plans

Manage GPS tracking systems, fleet management systems, and transport reporting

Monitor fuel consumption, operating costs, and efficiency improvement initiatives

Develop and maintain transport policies, procedures, and audits

Manage public road risks and community transport interactions

Implement Management of Change (MoC) for transport-related operational changes

Comply with Glencore’s environmental procedures and MUMI SARL’s environmental policy.
