Job description.

 

Under the direct supervision of the Metal Accounting Supervisor , the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and traceability of metallurgical accounting data related to copper and cobalt flows. They will guarantee the accuracy of metal balance sheets, inventory reconciliation, and the production of precise and timely reports. The position will contribute to managing the metallurgical and financial risks associated with production variances. The incumbent will support the site's operational, financial, and compliance requirements. Finally, they will ensure the rigorous application of the AMIRA P754 Code for Metal Accounting.

 

His/Her essential functions will include, among others (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Ensure monitoring of metallurgical flows and data integrity : Collect, validate and consolidate daily copper and cobalt production data; this includes verifying consistency between operational systems, weighing data, sampling records and laboratory analyses, as well as ensuring full traceability of metal flows from feed to finished products.
  • Prepare and analyze metal balances: Prepare and analyze daily, weekly and monthly metal balances; this includes calculating recoveries, yields, losses and metallurgical variances, reconciling high-value products (copper bundles and cobalt bags) and detailed analysis of significant variations.
  • Perform variance analyses and manage associated risks : Analyze metallurgical and financial variances; this includes conducting root cause analyses, identifying anomalies, formulating corrective recommendations and contributing to the reduction of operational and financial risks.
  • Supervise analytical controls and laboratory-production consistency: Consolidate and validate chemical analysis results (Cu and Co content); this includes identifying analytical biases, coordinating investigations with the laboratory, and ensuring alignment between volumes processed, analytical results and production data.
  • Ensure the management and reconciliation of metallurgical stocks: Monitor the physical and accounting stocks of raw materials, work in progress, intermediates and finished products; this includes participation in periodic inventories, reconciliation of discrepancies, and support for internal and external metallurgical and financial audits.
  • Produce reporting and strengthen compliance and continuous improvement: Prepare daily, weekly and monthly Metal Accounting reports; this includes developing and improving analytical dashboards (advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau), investigating system anomalies, applying critical controls in accordance with AMIRA Code P754, documenting procedures and contributing to continuous process improvement.

Job requirements

Qualifications and experience.

 

  • Hold a university degree in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Chemistry or in a related field.
  • Having experience in a mining or metallurgical environment.
  • Having experience in copper and cobalt operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience in data reconciliation, analytical reporting and/or analysis systems is required.

 

Technical skills.

 

  • Having a mastery of the principles of metallurgical accounting and material balances.
  • Understanding hydrometallurgical and/or pyrometallurgical processes.
  • Using Excel at an advanced level for data analysis and modeling.
  • Leverage digital reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, ERP, MI systems).
  • Investigate complex data discrepancies and system anomalies.
  • Interpreting and analyzing statistical and metallurgical data.
  • Write reliable, structured and decision-oriented reports.
  • Fluency in French and technical English is an asset.
