Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent – Technical Control, the MM Technical Controller is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, governance, and optimization of maintenance material demand across the supply chain. This role acts as a gatekeeper of demand quality, ensuring that all material requests are technically valid, properly defined in the Material Master (SAP MM) and aligned with actual operational needs and asset strategies.

The position integrates Master Data Management (MDM), Demand Planning, and Supply Planning, ensuring that inventory is fit-for-purpose, optimized, and cost-efficient, while supporting operational reliability.

 

His/Her responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

 

1. Demand Governance & Technical Validation.

  • Suggest Act as first-line validation authority for all material demands before PR creation.
  • Validate technical specifications, correct material selection, and usage relevance.
  • Ensure compliance with cataloguing standards and procurement policies.
  • Reject, correct, or standardize non-compliant or duplicate requests.
  • Enforce “No valid master data = No demand” principle.

 

2. Master data quality check & Governance.

  • Ensure integrity of Material Master data in SAP/PM – AMT, OEM references and specifications.
  • Validate and maintain criticality indicators. 
  • Support BOM accuracy and material-to-asset alignment.

 

3. Demand planning & Supply alignment.

  • Analyze historical consumption and operational plans to validate demand patterns.
  • Collaborate with Supply/Material Planners to align demand with supply strategies.
  • Validate demand prioritization vs stock availability and lead times.
  • Ensure integration of demand into MRP and planning cycles.

 

4. Critical spares & Risk management.

  • Maintain and validate critical spare parts strategy.
  • Ensure availability of materials linked to critical equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to update criticality and stocking strategy.
  • Mitigate stock-out risks linked to poor demand or planning.

 

5. Reporting & Continuous improvement.

  • Produce operational and adhoc reports on: demands quality, parts availability and planning performance and MRP parameter effectiveness.
  • Identify gaps and propose corrective actions.
  • Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

 

 

Job requirements

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Hold a University Degree in Mechanics, Electricity, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
  • Have at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in Demand Planning, Master Data Governance, Maintenance materials, preferably in a mining or heavy industry environment.
  • Have strong working knowledge of maintenance spares, material codification, and BOMs.
  • Be familiar with mining/plant operations and their material consumption patterns.

 

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems such as SAP PM, AMT, IBM Maximo or similar platforms to track work orders, query maintenance history, asset hierarchy.
  • Ability to challenge and question equipment master data, bill of materials (BOM), maintenance plans, and technical specifications to ensure accurate planning and execution.
  • Good knowledge in ERP Systems (SAP is preferred, (especially in Material Master, MRP Views, and Reporting))
  • Understanding of critical spares identification, inventory optimization, and linkage between maintenance plans and spare parts demand.
  • Analytical skills and experience using advanced Excel & Power BI
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of inventory optimization tools and reporting.
  • Fluent in French (English proficiency is advantageous).
  • Know how to manage logistical emergencies.
