Main objectives of the position
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent - Emergency Management, the Emergency Services - Coordinator coordinates emergency services operations by maintaining a level of life and property saving in a manner that is exercised with caution and in a timely manner, stabilizing any incidents that may occur by taking charge of the entire scene to protect the crew member, allocating people and equipment and acting as incident command. He/she trains staff, develops and implements plans while managing emergency incidents and emergency response teams, conducting exercises ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Minimum qualification
A university degree in technical sciences or a similar field.
Certificate of non-claustrophobia.
First aid certificate or BLS.
Facilitator and Evaluator Certificate.
Required Experience
A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar position or background in the mining industry.
Experience as a fire lieutenant in the fight against fires.
Required skills
Strong communication skills very professional.
Excellent time management.
Fluency in French. Fluency in English would be a bilingual (French and English) advantage.
Excellent teamwork.
Open to feedback and enthusiastic about improving the status quo.
Key Responsibilities
Train, coach and guide supervisors in fire administration and operations.
Develop a daily contingency schedule and monitor supervisors' compliance with this program.
Develop, coordinate and deliver essential training modules.
Control both electronic and paper filing of critical documents, such as pump inspections, internal ERT training records, on-site training records, etc., in order to prepare for an audit.
Prepare and conduct exercises according to the monthly schedule.
Coordinate and oversee fire prevention discussions for all MUMI operations.
Coordinate and supervise fire prevention inspections at all MUMI facilities.
Coordinate and supervise fire equipment inspection, fire extinguisher inspection, smoke detector inspection, hydrant inspection, hose coil inspection, control room checklist, paramedic checklist and any other inspection as required, as well as report results.
Coordinate and supervise the verification of gears and self-contained breathing apparatus according to the department's operational procedures.
Ensure that the emergency home is adequately housed, to allow for rapid team intervention.
Ensure that fire trucks, rescue vehicles, ambulances and all equipment are in a state of readiness for a quick response.
Make sure that fire extinguishers and the first aid kit are maintained and reconditioned.
Coordinates and supervises emergency communications, particularly during emergency operations.
Coordinate and supervise the actions of responders at an emergency scene. This includes liaising with all other departments, including security, mining, fire, security, paramedics, and others.
Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
